
Death notice for Roland Gunter Miethe, 87 passed away peacefully at home in Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera on February 20, 2024.
He was born on October 26, 1936 in Leipzig, Germany. He began an apprenticeship into the trade of watchmaking at the young age of 13. Upon completion at age 17 and on the advice of his beloved master he shortly thereafter escaped to western Germany and began working in Kaiserslautern. As a full fledged watchmaker, he went on to work in many locations around the world such as Durban, Cannes, Toronto and eventually Nassau where he became well known for his kindness and expertise in repairing and servicing a host of watches.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Curt Miethe and Charlotte Klara Miethe (née Hasselmann), and a brother Wolfgang Miethe.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sherrie Miethe (née McCreedy): his sister, Leonore Schmelzer; and two sons, Peter Miethe and Wolfgang Miethe.
His wife would like to say a special thank you to family and friends who have been so caring and supportive. May God bless you all.
