Death notice for Miriam Smith Matriarch of the Tribe of Benjamin and Mary Moncur of Oneida New York, formerly of Knowles Cat Island, died on October 25, 2024 at Waterville Residential Care Facility, Utica, New York at the age of 101.
She is survived by her children Alden Maxwell Smith, Loleta Dorsett of Oneida, New York, Agatha Nottage of Nassau, Bahamas and Netta Blakes of Seneca Falls, New York; sister, Dr. Althea McMillan of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren Julia Spohn, Maxwell Smith and Jeremiah Dorsett; three great grandchildren, Micah, Nolan, and Lucia Spohn; sis- ter-in-law Inez Moncur; brother-in-law Dr. Wendell McMillan. And a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and The Bahamas. Small in statue but a Christian Giant. Sleeping peacefully awaiting the return of her Lord.
