Death notice for Mary Victoria Basden It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Victoria Basden, affectionately known as “Grammy,” who passed away at the age of 90.

Born on June 7, 1936, in Arthur’s Town, Cat Island, Mary later made Nassau her home, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and loved ones.
Grammy was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love that will continue through the generations.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Basden, with whom she shared 70 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and cherished memories.
She leaves to cherish her memory her four sons: Gregory Basden, and his wife Rochelle; Kevin Basden; Lorne Basden, and his wife Jennifer; and Sean Basden.
Grammy will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Thomas Basden, and his wife Lateshia, Britney, Khalil, and his wife Tia, Rashad, Scott, Arnaldo, and his wife Neimoya, Delquin, Dominique, Michele and her husband Jharid Singh, Gwendolynn, Michael, Nadia and her husband Livingston Miller and Nico.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Malia, Tenaci, Sultan, Skylar, Alex, Nova, Kennedy, Kemaury, Celine, Nyah, Leah, and Nariyah.
She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Rose Huyler; her brother, Tony Farah; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
Grammy’s love, strength, wisdom, laughter, and the memories she created with her family will forever remain in their hearts. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave and the legacy she leaves behind will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. Rest peacefully, Grammy. Your love will live on through us all.
