
Funeral Service for Winifred Anne Lady Johnstone née Duncombe, 91 died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Sunday morning, the 3rd March 2024 at her home Annadale in Blair Estate.
A Funeral Service for Anne Lady Johnstone will take place at Church Church Cathedral, George Street, Nassau, The Bahamas on Tuesday, 12th March, 2024 at 11:00a.m.
The Very Reverend Harry Bain, Dean Rector of Christ Church Cathedral, will officiate and interment will follow in the Garden of Remembrance, Christ Church Cathedral.
Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband Geoffery, who died on August 4th, 2017 and by her parents Gurth and Kathleen Duncombe as well as her beloved nephew lan Kelly and nicce Linda Elza née Kelly more recently. Brother-in-Law Peter Johnstone (Joan), brother-in-Law Sir Godfrey Kelly, niece Deborah Raine and sister-in-Law Pam Raine (Johnny).
She is survived by her beloved sister, Sonia Lady Kelly, and her great niece Katherine Elza, as well as her godchildren, Cynthia Adderley, Leslie Ann Dexter and Kayla Butler Russell. Cousins Catherine Dunford of Toronto Canada and Paul Duncombe of England. Nephews and nieces, Bruce Raine (Gloria), Heather White (David), David Johnstone (Emma), Glenn Johnstone (Merelyn); great nephews Sean Raine (Nadine), Spencer White (Michelle), Adrian White (Mirlande), Michael and Alexander Johnstone, Jake Johnstone; great nieces Shannon Chappell (Simon), Shyla Johnstone; great-great niece Julia Raine; great-great nephews Franklyn White, Finley Chappell, Conry Raine, Nathan White, Maxim White and Lennox-David White.
She was well loved by a great many people, as was evidenced by the outpouring of condolences and well wishes following her passing on Sunday. She was a lifelong member of the Nassau Lawn Tennis Club and the Nassau Garden Club. She was an accomplished gardener and for many years enjoyed and mastered the art of Hydroponic Gardening. From their very early days together Anne and Geoff were taken by the beautiful Bahamian waters and had one boat or another for the greater part of their lives together. Perhaps the most famous name of several of their yachts was Skylarkin, which took them from Abaco to Inagua and just about everywhere in between. She was also an avid Bridge player.
