Death notice for David Cameron Salter, 92 died at the Bristal residence in North Hills, New York on October 23, 2024. David was a longtime resident of Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera.
At his bedside were his son Donald and aide Oliver Magos. David leaves behind his beloved wife Christina Howe of New York City and was predeceased by his second wife Yolande McKenna Salter (June 3rd, 2013) and first wife Claire Michaud Salter who passed Dec 7, 2016. David will be sorely missed by his two sons, Donald and Bob, their wives Minda and Julia, his grandchildren Owen, Rebecca, David Jr, his sister Gail Salter as well as extended family, friends and business associates.Â
David was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada November 15th, 1931 David had a varied career starting in investment and financial services in Montreal, Quebec followed by working in the textile industry, then a multitude of business interests from food products to electric cars. One word can sum up his passion: Entrepreneurship. The desire to create and grow business’s never left him even after his eyesight would not let him read a spreadsheet.
David made friends wherever he lived. He had many fond memories of his time spent in Eleuthera, Bahamas, and the Boone area of North Carolina. He was known to many for his generous character, varied interests, passion for aviation and travel and desire to help his friends, family and community. At this time, we would like to thank the staff at Bristal Assisted Living and are deeply grateful for the excellent and compassionate care he received from Evelyn, Victoria, Oliver, Nolan, Sandra and Mercedes who cared for him when he could no longer live independently.
A remembrance will be held later. We will miss him greatly. May you rest in peace.
