Death notice for Brigitte Helga Smith, 65 of #79 Westridge Drive, Westridge Estates died peacefully at Doctor’s Hospital on the night of Friday, May 23rd, 2025.
Formerly of Munich, Germany, Brigette came to The Bahamas over 35 years ago where she met and married her husband Philip Godfrey Smith. They shared 29 wonderful years together. Brigitte was an avid gardener and agriculturalist, she loved the native trees and flowers of the Bahamas and featured them in her garden. The beautiful beaches and sea are what attracted her to the Bahamas. She was so happy to be swimming in the sea. It was one of her passions. The Bahamas was her adopted home.
Brigette is survived by her husband: Philp Godfrey Smith; brother-in-law: Michael Chappell (Gail); niece: Laura Chappell; nephew: Simon Chappell (Alana); grand nephew: Finley Chappell; Minette Andrews and Family; Marina McLaughlin and Family; Mario Pistilli and Family; Michael Melzer and Family, Cynthia Melzer and David McPhail; special friends: Yvette Romain and Family, Lisa Knowles and Family, Kitiboni Rolle, Jewel Smith, Joanne Rahming, Shavase Smith and Annaceau Ptdje; family in Germany: Aunt Rosie Ditschkowski, Uli (Karolina) and Baldeur Ditschkowski her many friends in the Cat group and Agi group. Lastly, her beloved cats Benji and Luca; special thanks to: Dr Leigh-Ann Bartholomew, Dr. Otto Gibbs, Dr. Don Major and Dr. Marcus Cooper.
Brigitte’s last wishes were that her ashes be scatter at sea in Exuma.
A Memorial service will be held in Exuma at a later date.
